What is Melasma?
Melasma is a common skin problem that causes brown to gray-brown patches and shows usually on the face, most commonly on the cheeks, forehead, chin, upper lip and bridge of the nose. It can also appear on other areas of the body that get lots of sun, such as the neck. Hormone changes and sun exposure are the most common triggers for melasma. More women are affected than men, and individuals of Latin or Asian ethnicity are also more likely to get melasma. While there is no cure for Melasma, effective treatment options are available.
